Brass is a metal that has pores. What this means is that an item that is made of brass weathers or tarnishes not only from the outside inwards, but also can tarnish inside (sub-surface) and spread outwards. Brass in made of copper and other metals (this is called an alloy) and Brass Shine liquid polish only cleans and removes tarnish on the outer layers of the brass.
